Emily Gibson grew up in LaFayette, Georgia. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music from Berea College in Kentucky. She holds certificates and highly qualified status in both Georgia and Tennessee. For five years, Emily taught band, choir and guitar classes at Scott High School in Huntsville, Tennessee before moving back to LaFayette.
Currently, Emily teaches private music lessons in wind instruments, piano, guitar and voice. She has accumulated over 25 years as an instrumentalist. Emily is also the rehearsal pianist for Oakwood Baptist Church.

Joel began his musical life on the piano at age 7. He began playing electric bass in his dad’s church at age 13 and picked up guitar the same year. He has played guitar with bands all across the southeast for the past 30 years and teaching for over 20.
He teaches tablature and playing by ear. He also teaches basic theory and other musical terminology. His focus is on beginning to advanced players ages 5-up. As a student, you can expect to acquire a fundamental understanding of music theory, technique, reading tablature and playing by ear. Joel’s musical focus is rock, blues, pop, etc. Influences include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Dennis F. Brown

GUITAR, BASS, VOICE
Over the years Dennis has performed with artists such as Alan Jackson, Vicki Bird, Doug Stone, Terry McBride, Ray Price, Mark Chesnutt, Confederate Railroad, and Phil Cross. He has also performed on musicals such as, “Patsy Cline Forever”. He has recorded spots for Nationwide Insurance and McDonalds commercials. Dennis has performed on GAC TV Specials, CMT Most Wanted Live, TNN Music City Tonight, TNN Crook & Chase, and TNN Grand Ol’ Opry Live.
Dennis’ professional experience in studio, concert and broadcast situations and his association with some of the most gifted performers in the world give him a unique and practical perspective on and insight into what it takes to be a good, thoughtful, empathetic musician. Dennis also studied with one of the most respected voice teachers in the nation for a number of years. He tailors his lessons to the needs of each student. He offers encouragement and support to his students no matter their skill level. Learning materials are created specifically for each student after an evaluation of their level of accomplishment. Lessons also are crafted based on the wants and desires of each student which means basically that each student learns the kind of music they want to learn and at their own pace. Basic tenets of music are taught through the use of learning materials available at local music stores. Dennis is a motivated, compassionate instructor who delights in helping students reach their musical goals.

Allison Johnson
|

Even at a young age Allison had a strong passion for music. She is a third generation church music director, her mother having been a church music director and piano teacher in Athens, Georgia. She started playing the piano when she was only four years old and began taking lessons at the age of five with Mrs. Clara Waln, from Athens. At Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, Allison earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis in piano. Her piano teachers there were Mrs. Moona Yu and Dr. Gregory Pepatone. She also studied voice as well as tuba. She began teaching piano in 2004, a year before she moved to LaFayette. She serves Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church as the Music Director. Allison and her husband, Jad, have a beautiful daughter named Millie who has just turned two. They have lived in LaFayette for six years.
